Accommodation

The contemporary 30-foot-long lounge and dining room, with 20-foot-high ceilings, is the heart of the home. It features multiple lighting options, leather seating and patio doors that open onto a garden overlooking the farm’s fields. A real flame gas fire supplements the central heating, while large windows provide stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Broadband WiFi ensures you stay connected.

The characterful country-style kitchen boasts charming features, including an oil-fired AGA range cooker, additional hobs, an indoor BBQ, a convection microwave and a dishwasher. The spacious kitchen also includes a 6-seater table, making it ideal for family meals or entertaining.

The barn offers three exquisite bedrooms. The ground-floor master/family bedroom features a sumptuous king-size bed and a spectacular en suite with a roll-top bath and a stunning wall mural. A second double bedroom includes luxury furnishings, a vaulted ceiling and a private marble-tiled en suite, with views of the front field where sheepdog training sessions often take place. The third bedroom is a large twin room with a private dressing room, vaulted ceilings, stone walls and luxury touches throughout, complete with its own en suite and views over the open countryside.

Outside, guests can enjoy two garden areas. The patio, accessible from the lounge, is perfect for daytime coffee breaks or evening barbecues with a charcoal grill. The fully enclosed lawn, visible from the kitchen and utility room, is a well-maintained space ideal for children’s games, offering plenty of room for outdoor fun.

The barn’s location also provides a unique opportunity to experience the traditions of sheepdog training. Hosts Thomas and Steven Longton, renowned shepherds, carry on the family legacy with award-winning sheepdog training and demonstrations involving sheep, geese, and ducks. Thomas, a national and international sheepdog trial champion, offers entertaining displays and even one-to-one training sessions for those interested. His work has been featured on BBC programmes like One Man and His Dog.

Visiting Quernmore & Exploring Lancashire

Quernmore is less than 5 miles from the historic town of Lancaster with its castle, cathedral and once quayside port. It is just 30 minutes from the Lake District and with easy access from the M6 motorway, this gives endless opportunity for day trips. Pony trekking and a municipal golf course are 2 miles away from the Shepherds Barn and the River Conder wends its way through the farm fields of Lee End. Fishing rights belong to the Longton’s - details are available on request. If eating out is your pleasure there are a wide range of restaurants including gourmet to traditional pubs suited for all the family.
