Built on the site of a Medieval Castle, Barncastle offers a tranquil retreat with outstanding views across the surrounding countryside. Nestled in the beautiful Painswick valley and conveniently located to experience all that the Cotswolds has to offer.

Barncastle sleeps 10 comfortably across 5 characterful bedrooms. Each room has its own unique features and charm making a truly unique stay for guests.

Barncastle is wonderfully well designed for socialising with its large kitchen, stunning dining space and cosy lounging area, yet there are also plenty of cosy seating nooks to sit and enjoy a book or sip away at your favourite drink!

The outside space immerses you in countryside with outstanding views across the fields and valley. Featuring a patio area perfect for al fresco dining or morning coffee’s and an expansive lawn area.

A stay at Barncastle wouldn’t be complete without a visit from some of our feathered or four legged friends – don’t be surprised to wake up to a couple of Friesians passing by in the neighbouring field or to some Guineafowls walking through the gardens.

Ground Floor:
Our stunning dining area features a double height ceiling, oak floors and a Cotswold stone fireplace. With double doors either side of the space there is plenty of natural light making it the perfect setting for breakfast or cosy evening meals.

The country style kitchen is the centre of the ground floor with everything you need to cook and host for a large group. A charming space with traditional stone floor, views across the valley, a large American-style fridge, range cooker and dishwasher.

A well stocked utility room is located next to the kitchen with a washing machine and tumble dryer, additional fridge, iron and ironing board.

Bedroom 1: Traditional styling, either a king size bed or twin room with a comfortable seating area. This room benefits from French doors leading to a private patio area, a wonderful spot for a morning coffee taking in the views.

Bedroom 2: A charming room with a double bed, traditional styling and oak flooring.

Bedroom 3: Dual aspect windows allowing for views across the garden, king size bed, traditional styling.

Two bathrooms, each with shower, basin and WC.

First Floor:
The heart of the barn is the spacious, beamed, living area with an open fire and ample seating for large groups.

Our family bathroom is located on the first floor and includes both a bath and a shower.

Bedroom 4: At the top of the barn is our master bedroom with a king size bed and exposed beams. The en-suite bathroom features a beautiful freestanding, traditional bathtub.

Bedroom 5: A charming room with a double bed, traditional styling and oak flooring.

Ample private parking to the front of the property.

We’re able to provide travel cots and highchairs if required.

With it’s scenic walking trails and exceptional local pubs, Barncastle is incredibly well located. You’ll be just a stones throw away from the bustling market town of Stroud and a short trip to the breath-taking Gloucester Cathedral or Regency Town of Cheltenham.

In the neighbouring village of Painswick you’ll find coffee shops, the stunning Rococo Gardens, weekly food markets and Thursday evening food nights with a variety of local food traders.
